SHIFTING
sry to take people time but this been bothering me cause it happen to me.
i was going around 20 to 25 when it was in 4th gear(SAVING GAS IT WAS LIL) and it just poped into nuetural. i was wondering why did it do that? i was still reving it a lil still and it just poped into N.....
theres another thing i dont noe.... i was on 3rd and i shoved the cluch in...and then i put it in to 2nd and i herd a grind noise while my foot was in the cluch all the way....is there a reason why? i didnt get it cause my foot was all the way in and it shouldnt do that. it felt that the cluch wasnt going in to gear and it was stuck or sumthing.....
if you dont match rev....is it bad for the clutch?
THANKS ALOT

you don't need to rev match but it puts less strain on the entire drivetrain. also the 2nd gear grind you talk about is a common occurrence. it depends on how you hold the shifter and how fast you slam it in gear and a bunch of other stuff. over time you'll get it right so it doesn't do that.
Dude, 20-25mph in 4th? Lugging the motor wont net better fuel economy.
As far as popping out of gear. Mine has done it a few times in the morning, but I attribute that to being in a hurry and not getting it all the way in gear.

My suggestion would be have someone who knows how to drive a stick drive your car to see if there is something actually wrong. Better still, Check your local S2KI forum for any meets near you and go out and let a fellow owner drive it.

Grinding second while shifting fast is pretty common with new drivers. Time will help this. I had this twice in my first 3 months, and it hasn't happend once since.
Popping out of 4th sounds scary though. If this happens with any regularity, take it to the dealer.
Shifting the S2000 has two distinct steps. For example the 1-2 shift. You pull it out of 1st and the gear lever pauses outside 2nd. This pause allows the synchros to spin up. Once the synchros are done, the gear shift pulls into 2nd. If you stop shifting at the pause, you'll have issues.
