Does that affect reliability at all? I.e. would you feel comfortable tracking a car all day long with that higher redline?

you don't have to swap out the slave cylinder...you can just remove the CDV

CDV delete DIY thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/275...-cylinder-mod/

Driving instructions are great, but they don't save you from a [black] ice slide, a deep puddle, suddenly poor traction, etc. We can talk about technique all you want, how you 'should' be at your 100% when driving at all times, blah blah blah; fact of the matter is... we're human not machines, we make mistakes, and we're not always at full attention. Have fun with the cost of tuning an 05.

Haha. 99 times out of 100, if you're driving properly, you'll never notice the CDV. But that 1 time out of 100, when you start bouncing off the revlimiter with the clutch slipping, FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
That's a lie.
This is not a lie. You shouldn't be shifting hammer fisted; you engage vsa, vsa doesn't engage itself. And quite frankly our VSA system is very balanced... there's even a small margin it gives you where it lights up, but it's not engaged yet.

False. Rev hang does infact come from DBW; but rev hang in a 06+ (s2000), but it's fairly miniscule. Clutch slip and Rev hang are not the same thing. One has to do with the clutch, the other has to do with the throttle body. You should know better

I nail the holy **** out 8.5k constantly, and have zero fear of doing so. Just don't sit at 8.5k.

If you get an AP1 you better be DAMN careful in the rain, Ive been on some freeways that are so slick in the rain I had to slow down to nearly 30mph to keep from spinning out / hydro-sliding my ass into a ditch. ibgetnewtires, rears had probably 75% + tread life on em

When the new generation jet fighters switched from cable to fly by wire it made the experienced ace pilots worse and made the mediocre pilots better, I'd like to think the same applies for the s2k.

I've driven both and there is no discernible difference between the throttle response of the two cars.

Everybody focuses on certain details but there are so many other differences.

Here's a pretty interesting read on the changes from year to year:
http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2173176

I love how much more solid and refined my 2007 feels than some of the earlier cars. It could just be that the car is newer and the chassis has retained more of its strength too. *Shrug*

Like everyone says, go drive some cars and make up your own mind. If nothing else, you get to drive a couple of S2000s and that's always a good thing.

So... What's the problem with DBW (except your perceived-perception of DBW itself)?
It causes issues with modding, which is fact.

Typically DBW has a pretty annoying delay from when you hit the gas pedal and when the throttle opens. Granted I haven't driven a 06+ at the limit to notice how bad or not bad it is.
You have never driven a drive by wire car. I own three and there is no perceptible delay whatsoever. I can assure you drive by wire is not a limitation , nor does it hinder modding or outright performance in any way. My dbw works flawlessly with my 35r and was half the price to mod and tune thanks to flashpro. VSA is the shit as well. I can hammer the car in first or second and never even spin a tire with over 400 hp. Go 06 or newer you will not regret it.
