My conclusion after owning the car for a while is that it's virtually unnoticeable, but there's a slight shade of "rev hang" (although it's not bad at all). The s2k has by far one of the better DBW systems.
This.

Anyone who hasn't driven both a cable and DBW S2000 should stop armchair quarterbacking. Apples to oranges.

With the DBW, you might notice an ever so minuscule rev-hang while sitting in neutral and making minor throttle jab inputs (say a quick throttle stab to 2k). Otherwise, you will never notice it. On the plus side, it is SUPER precise in terms of throttle input response. Having driven both, the DBW is the more refined car straight out of the box.

Just another owner who has owned both S2000s echoing that there is no noticeable difference and the 06+ are overall superior cars.

DBW in the s2000 is just fine. I do notice a slight delay when the car is idling.
In the 2006 mazda 3 (also DBW), the DBW is the same, there is no lag once the car is not idling.

I still have an MY01 and an MY07 so I can switch off. DBW response in the 07 is superb.

CDV, Ap2 22 lb. Flywheel and...

the '06+ comes with a buffer that Honda put in to smooth out response from the pedal to the throttle body, seriously!!!

Put in an ap1 clutch slave cylinder(no cdv), replaced flywheel with an ap1 14lb flywheel, and reflashed my ECU with the flashpro and the buffer is eliminated.

Changes the characteristics of the car

When buying my 2nd s2000, I wanted an 04-05 only because when adding a test pipe to an 06+ I have heard many people have had CEL light issues. Some get it , some don't. I wanted to use a test pipe so the answer was clear.

Test both and see for yourself if DBW is good or not in your opinion.

Another non-issue. This may happen on every year.
All you do is buy a $20 spacer and it's fixed.

^^ very true, the 06+ is more touchy with fooling the secondary sensor and the primary 02 sensor is a wideband. But u can disable either the primary and/or secondary 02 sensors with the flashpro. There, no more problems with the tp.
