Should I use an S2000 for my next build?

While I've only ever met nice Corvette owners the young ones come off very douche.

A friend of mine owned a R32, it was nothing but headaches.

I guess the better question is - What is your budget?

You're aware that while you might own a fast car you're probably going to be a slow driver without training on the track right? In your shoes I'd be picking up an S2000 (assuming you like the car) and hitting the track. Forget modding the car until you can actually drive the stock form at the limit.

1/4 mile times and 0-60 times are typically used for dick measuring. With parking lot convos like "My car runs the 1/4 mile in 12.2 meaning I'm faster then you." I mention this because I have a good friend who focuses on things like this, cannot take a corner to save his life and with a 200hp advantage is slower around a track then I. So I'm still at a loss why 12 seconds for the 1/4 mile and not 10 for example.

This all said you might be better off just buying a WRX STI with a mild stage 2 tune will easily, regularly and cheaply run 12s 1/4 miles.
It doesnt matter to me if I'm slower on the track, I just want a car that excites me again. I drove a E92 M3 recently which has 350 WHP and supposedly does 1/4's in the high 12's low 13's and aside from the screaming engine I was yawning. I figure with a car like the R32 you will feel the speeds more too unlike the almost too stable M3.

I wouldnt mind an STI either. I had a non turbo impreza before and even had fun in that. My total budget is probably $25K unless I were to use it as my daily driver, then I would have $40K available.
Sounds like you want high TQ figures. The S2000 won't give that to you. It will scream much like that E92. The chase for power is addicting yet ultimately boring. You're focusing on straight line speed which is extremely boring.

$25K is also not a lot of money unless you're doing all the work yourself. You'll pretty easily spend $6-8k on a built motor after dropping 12-15K on a decent S2k. You need to factor in 6-10K on SC/Tubro plus engine management, a little less if you buy 06+ but you'll spend more on that year.

I think this project of yours needs more defining and your 'excitement' to be realized more practically. A Miata is darn exciting in the corners for example and dirt cheap.

Let me add, my sedan has more then twice the TQ and a healthy lead in HP over my stock S2000. The S2k is by far more thrilling to drive.

If you are primarily looking for excitement, maybe you should consider a bike.
