hmmm...how bad would it be to remove this tape now 2005 on a 00'
I just did mine yesterday. It's an 02 but still. I would seriously suggest heating it up with a blow dryer to try and get the adhesive to come off with the tape. Since it's in the 50's/60's here still I think it was just a bit too cold for this and the adhesive pretty much all came off the tape and stayed on the car. It took me about 2 hours or more with goo gone trying to get all of it off to no avail. I tried WD-40, alcohol, and some old paint thinner I had and none of them seemed to help. I switched to goo gone and with a little bit of elbow grease I had it cleaned up and ready for Zaino in no time after that. I would defintely recommend using goo gone solely to clean it up after removing the tape, it will save you time. I think it looks awesome with the hardtop but I don't think I would do it without one.

ok...I'm thinking I might just wait to do this...I plan to by are hardtop hopefully sometime soon...if I could find a good used deal. And I'm thinking, if I have the dealer do the install, will they take off the tape at that time...that way any risk of pulling paint off is on them...

i removed the tape from a used 2000 i just recently bought. the glue residue was still on the car and i had to use some googone to rub it off.. took a couple hours cause i was careful not to ruin the original surface.

turned out great the paint was perfect and just as shiny as the rest of the body.

this tape will definately not pull off any paint. the best way to do is it to start on the driver side near the bottom. the tape is actually in three pieces, and if you start pulling from the driver side you can get it all off in one pull.. if you start from the passenger side the tape is layered so that it wouldnt be as easy. the slower you pull the better chance you have of the glue coming on with the tape instead of sticking on the car. if you use a heatgun to warm it up before hand it would probably help, i didnt use it though.
