LOL proof that this isn't the reason... ask some of the Cali guys about offsets and they won't even give them to you because internet bragging rights mean nothing. I mean how empty does your life have to be for that to mean something??? There are many people who beg for offsets just so they can copy instead of actually buying what they want. Who cares about offsets and lip size as long as it looks good to the owner. ...
The whole secret squirell about offset thing is quite funny to me. If it wasn't about "bragging rights" Why not share the info Coming from the nissan community ONLY TJ has "agressive" offsets and he posted them Why is that, I wonder maybe because its not a big deal to him.

Of course many of us like unique looks and enhancing the performance of our cars. But I just don't get some mods, particularly slamming the car to where it's scraping, having so much negative camber that only half the tire contacts the ground and so much offset that the wheel will crack the fender over a large bump.

First, although this is subjective, it just looks ridiculous. Second, half of these setups have to compromise the handling. Third, scraping, fender rolling, etc. could all harm the car. Fourth, if you ever sell the car, it's going to have to be converted back to stock to appeal to a larger market.

This all just seems so ricey and immature in a way and could give our cars and owners a bad rap. And flame away all you want, this is just "IMO," so I don't care. I undertand lowering the car an inch or so, getting some wider tires, more flush, aggressive rims, etc., but only to a certain extent. And only something that actually fits the car!

Is this an S2000 fad or is it here to stay? And what does everyone think of these extreme mods?
To each their own. I dont track my car show my car or any of that. I go to meets to meet fellow enthusiast. I buy the parts I buy for my car because I like them. Be positive abou it, you car will be woth more $$$ because it will be original.

I guess they dont want to be copied! In cali its hard to be the best, theres alot of modded cars and alot of competition, and u need alot of money to stay ahead of the game! If i lived in cali i would not be happy with an s2000 because theres alot more s2ks than florida. Down here in orlando u will never see widebodies or mugen tops and all official parts like cali, and if u do then they hide in the garage! In florida u can rock the same wheels for 2 or more years and still be hot! In cali u need new wheel every 6 months to stay ahead.

However, I really see no problem with someone slapping a decent set of coilovers on an S2K or any car for that matter because they want to have a slammed car. If handling isn't a priority, then what's the issue?
If handling isn't a priority, then why are people even driving S2000s? If any of you bought this car solely because it looks cool, please sell it immediately to someone who will actually appreciate it for what it is.

IMO, function>form. That's how the car was designed, that's how my car will stay. If I can add some external mods to make my car look better without seriously hindering my ability to use the car as it was designed, then I'll do it. However, I'm not just going to slam my car because it looks cool without considering the performance aspect of it.

As far as the whole "it's OK to be slammed because they used quality coilovers" argument, no suspension travel is still no suspension travel.

Oh, and IBTL.

Slamming and Extreme Camber and Offsets, Um... why?
In some cases it does look nice but in most cases it's just to keep up with the Jonses.

Its the epitome of rice.
I like a low car as much as the next guy, but when you go too far and put parts on a car that don't fit on that car and subsequently have to tilt the wheels an obscene amount, then it goes from looking cool to looking like you are trying too hard. And when you try too hard to look cool, you end up looking stupid. A hot girl in a thong is really nice, but a fat girl in a thong looks stupid. Big wheels and a low ride look nice, but if they are too big and too low.... I hope you get my point. I love a modded car, but it has to be tasteful, classy, and cool. Making your car look like the axle is broken falls under none of these categories. If a mod would look good on a Ferrari then it'll look good on yours. So far, I've never seen a Ferrari with tires 3 inches too narrow for their rims or running camber that shows daylight under the tread. I've only seen this crap on Hondas and Nissans. So my point is.... if you put non functional parts on your car that don't fit and make your car look worse and perform worse than stock, and the only people doing it are driving Japanese cars........THEN ITS RICE!

This was a waste of a thread!!! Thats like posting on a ferrari forum and shitting on guys that drive their cars past the limits!
it's like going on fchat and telling them that they are all posers for keeping their cars in their garage 24/7 and only bring it out on nice days and never take it to the track (90%+ of ferrari owners)

Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

One of the things that swayed my purchase was the styling of the S2000. I guess I need to adhere to what you are saying and sell my car.

Are we all not human? We are all different, have different wants, needs, desires, tastes and opinions. Why does it matter if someone does something else they appreciate?

There are plenty of items in this world that get used for things other than they were intended.

I bought it because I liked the way it looked, liked that it was a convertible, and liked that it felt good to drive. To me, it is a cruiser, because that is what I use it for. It gets me from point A to point B.

Do you drive your s2000 in traffic? Is that was it was "designed" for?
