So Which Batch Of S2000 Would You, As A Current S2000 Owner
#22
I owned a 2002 for eight years. I'm on and off Autotrader and Cars.com regularly looking for another, eventually to have another S2000. I'd prefer a 2002-2003 because of the relative lack of nannies compared to the later years, and because the late 02 and 03 had improved banjo bolts, glass rear window, and suspension tweaks to make it a bit less of a handful. I would not turn down a CR, but honestly unless they have significant miles on them, they are collector cars at this point.
Either way, a garage with a NSX, a S2000, and a 6MT CTS-V wagon would be a win in my book.

The supercharger wouldn't have anything to do with that, would it?

'02-'03 with AP2v1 rims, AP2 rear subframe, and AP2 trans/prop/diff (keeping AP1 FW & CDV). Oh, and AP2 horn.

Having owned an 04, an 01, and now an 06... I would say I prefer my modded 06 the most. With flashpro tuning, I really don't notice a difference in throttle response. My 06 is KW supercharged and I appreciate the VSA while driving on the street, which is easy enough to turn off when at the track.
08/09s are pretty with AP2V3s but having to deal with TPMS is annoying, IMO.

Does the cable throttle really feel that different from the DBW? If I remember right the dbw cars have a fake cable and spring attached to a potentiometer to read pedal position. I suppose the pedal feel can be similar but the engine response is not.
As many have said, the best are the 03 with 17" wheels added and 04-05. The only thing I envy from later cars is the 08-09 instrument cluster.

00-03. Why? Because it has something no new car will ever have, and that is nothing. No useless features just a raw experience when you’re behind the wheel. It’s simple as it should be. I look at it as it’s a time to get away from everything, no cell phones, no drama, no sense of time, no distractions. Just you and a car bonding.
