Default Soft top Converions to glass...can it be done?

I have seacrhed for this in the forums, I even busted out my Helms manual to check it out. I am seriously considering swapping out my top(MY 2001) with the plastic window to the newer one with glass. Just looking at my Helms, the only difference i can see is that the whole soft top for the glass one should theorectically bolt on place to the frame of the original one I have in my car now. HAs anyone does this swap yet and how much did it cost you? Can you do it yourself in your own garage? Any help will be appreiciated or info....

Oooh. I don't know. I'd bet the new one has slightly different joint angles so that the glass does not "fold." That's why the old one is plastic, isn't it? Plastic folds and glass doesn't? I would doubt you could just replace it with the new fabric and glass w/o changing the frame and folding mechanism. Go find a new one and put your car side by side and fold them both and see. Maybe I'm wrong.

So it CAN be done. How about that. So when it's time for a new top, it'll really be new!

Went to Goudy Honda the other day with a friend to buy a battery. The guy at the dealer mentioned that it can be done, but didn't quote me a price and didn't say whether a 2002 frame is needed as well.

Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina quoted me $4000 for the conversion. I thought $3k was already pushing it, but I should bargin for $2k
