I was putting the top down yesterday and about 2/3's of the way down it just stopped. Like it got jammed or something. This is the second time this has happened. So I moved it back up about a foot or so and tried to put it back down again and it went all the way down this time. Weird? Anyone else experience this?

 

Sometimes when I put the top down i'm starring at my rear view mirror, and if the top doesn't pass the bottom of the mirror, Then I know it didn't go down all the way and I ususally get out of the car put it up a little and try putting it down again but with my hand over it.

Gets me pissed, I don't know whats up with it.

 

Take a look at this. Your elastic straps may have lost there elasticity.

 

Yup...what gernby offered should help you. When the elastic dies, then the frame bars begin to collapse at incorrect intervals when dropping the top into the roofwell. When this happens, the frame bars actually bind to one another and halt the entire process of dropping the top.

Fix the elastic strips and you'll be good to go!

PS. I *have* a set of Modifry's elastic strips that I never ended up installing on my own frame (because I ultimately had an opportunity to upgrade to an '02 glass window'd top on my '01 frame). Take it in to the dealer if you're still under warranty, this is probably your problem.

 

The TSB addresses this by replacing the elastic bands and lubricating a joint. I would rather buy Modifry's bands, and lubricate the joint myself.
