This is some sticky $hiT
I installed Ricks leather console about 4 weeks ago along with Ricks leather shift boot. Forgetting, for a very short period of time, that I had also ordered the Lucid rear speaker harness to connect my rear speakers. No sooner did I finish the leather installs when my doorbell rings. It's Federal Express with my rear speaker harness. Oh crap, now I remember, now I have to run the rear speaker wires (through the console area of course). To make a long story short my leather console has lost some of its stick. I went to the dealer yesterday and ordered 8 carpet clips ($2.00 EACH!!! - are these JDM quality?) to re-attach the cover securely. They said it will take 1 week to get them in. "But it looks like $hIt now!". So, off to Home Depot I go looking for a good double-sided tape maybe as good as Rick's to hold me over. WOW!!! I found some stuff that you may have to get surgically removed if you are not careful. It is a double faced adhesive tape made by Capital called GRIP Strip. I found it in the carpet section in Home depot where the adhisives are located. You think Rick's stuff is sticky - this is super glue on cloth. I cut it with scissors and it damn near glued them shut. I applied it to the leather console and tightend everything and it works great. If you screw up your in for a tough battle - it's that strong! I am very pleased with the re-attechment and will save my $16.00 carpet clips for a future project (?).
TampaS2K,
How does the carpet where the Rick's adhesive was look? Did the adhesive totally destroy it or could you take off the console cover and still have good looking carpeting? Just wondering...
