Sound quality
Just got a 2005 S2000 and would like to upgrade the stock audio system. Any recommendation on what gives the best sound for under 1000; new speakers, s-pod vs. the OEM headset. I have some thought that the s-pod may block air flow and cause wind noise or a potential for rattle. Has anyone experienced this? I could spend more $$ if I thought it was a huge improvement. I am riding with the top down and the current setup is weak at best. I'm tempted to just use my ipod and headset in the meantime. Is it also true that if I upgrade the stock CD that the dash controls will be useless?
Thanks
Thanks
it's a bad idea, if not illegal, to use headphones while driving...if you change head units, the dash controls won't work unless you buy an aftermarket unit (such as Modifry's DCI) to get it working again. S-Pods are ok, but your better bet is to replace the head unit and factory speakers and add an amp.
I just upgraded my head unit, door speakers, and added an amplifier.
With the top down I can now play music clearly to the point where I don't even hear the wind going by my ears.
I did my whole setup for < $1000 for sure.

headunit is your biggest upgrade. Even with stock speakers replacing the HU itself is a great improvement. If you'd like to keep the radio controls on the left with an after market HU you can by purchasing the kit from modifry (DCI). The DCI kit is about $100 new. I have one new that I never used I'd be willing to sell for $60 if you want it. Other then that you can get an amp for the speakers to better power them if it isn't enough for you or go after market speakers + amp. All options should keep you under $1k
