Spark plug recall required before Autocross?
I've got an autocross event this sunday... and the spark plug recall hasn't been performed yet.
I don't want to make two warranty-work trips.... I was planning on taking it in the day after autocross to replace the clutch among other things (the spark plugs included)
Question is, will the car be alright for this one event with the spark plug recall not having been peformed?
Thanks...

You have to understand what the spark plug recall is for. The "old" plugs were found to back out and get loose, resulting in all sorts of nasty stuff. The "new" plugs come with a different, revised stainless steel crush washer and an increase in installation torque - up to 18 ft/lbs from 13. The questions you gotta ask yourself is, "Are they loose already. Will an auto-x make them worse? If they aren't loose now, will an auto-x make them loose?" If they are loose now, you are riding on shear luck. The final question is, "Do you feel lucky?"
I autocrossed mine many times before the recall was issued with no problems. However, had they backed out I might have been a tad upset. The recall plugs have been in for some time now with no problems, either...
So, why don't you just put a torque wrench on the plugs and make sure they're all at 18 ft-lbs. The plugs won't back out in the course of an auto-cross. It takes hundreds if not thousands of miles for the problem to manifest itself.
