Default speaker question-

hmm- maybe, maybe this post belongs to "electronics" section-

butm anyways-
i currently have polks 602a in my car, but want to look for something stronger. better.

what is very good speaker sets that i can get?
(should be direct drop- in... i HATE cutting/ drilling my car)

price does not matter, as long as it's good, loud, clear, strong, and direct drop- in.

any suggestions?

May I suggest you visit this board's sponsor Lucid Automotive.
Lucid knows his stuff and I'm sure he can recommend you the right drop in speakers for your needs!

If price doesn't matter...Rainbow, Focal, Dynaudio, and MB Quarts are a few that you should audition. Remember sound quality is subjective so listen to them and decide for yourself. Don't know if these are direct drop-ins though.

If money is no object, I can thoroughly recommend the Boston Acoustics Pro Series 6.5. The base from the door speakers is awesome, and the tweeters are just brilliant - a must have! I've only got the stock head unit, but if you've got a higher powered system, this speaker setup should be amazing.

Dude, cutting is a piece of cake, so don't that prevent you from getting different speakers. A utility knife will cut the plastic basket pretty easily. It's like a 10-20 minute job to cut the baskets.

I have the Infinity Kappa 62.3i which has a crossover and a swivel tweeter. It fits nicely behind the door panel. I don't know how it sounds vs other speakers, but they're good enough for me.

Ive got the Kappa Infinity Perfects 6.5 with Crossover & Components...and they are screamers with clarity!
But it was really designed to go with an amp set up...still i went after clarity and I'm satisfied...
even with my HKS exhaust and roof down at 100kmh+(60mph+) the sound is clear

You are about to enter a whole new ball game with upgrading your speakers. What else do you have in your system? If you want to upgrade to high quality door speakers (I had boston Pros in my prelude), you will need some place in the door to stash the crossover, cut a hole in the door panel for the tweeter. And you CANNOT run these types of speakers off the stock head unit's amp! High quality speakers NEED POWER!!! Without power they might sound worse than what you have now. Some speakers are engineered to run off very little power and are good for drop ins (what you have now), while other speakers are engineered for a termendous amount of power to sound even acceptable. With these speakers a MINIMUM of 100x2 channel, with a preference of 200x2. You might thing thats too much power for a door speaker, but I had 175 watts a channel to my bostons and they still had trouble maintaining some midbass at high volums. But you need to run amps, so you need a new head unit with preouts. No less than 4volt preouts please, if you buy certain sony models you can buy an adapter to use your dash controls. All in all you have to ask your self if you are ready to spend $2000 (+install) to get better sound out of a car that will NEVER have good sound. IMO, you have a good setup. Anything more will require a LOT more work and money and just isn't worth it in MO. You are better off upgrading your system in your beater car, something with a roof and room for subs. That way you keep from weighing the s2000 down!
