springs/lowering FAQ help
can someone plz school us on the basics of lowering?
what are the negatives for which springs? is the handling really THAT much better lowered? can you give examples ie: i can take the turn at 45 instead of 30 mph, etc?
thanks

Too many variables for different applications.
spring rates, camber, wheels offsets, wheel weights, tire width, stickiness, shocks etc...etc...etc.....
I think most applications sacrifice handling for looks....

i've heard that too, Tim. but so many people say that their S handles so much better lowered.
For my application I don't notice the difference.....and if your not tracking the car, I don't think you will either..... except maybe at the limit on turns...which is were it counts...

But,let's say,on a stock "S",the only thing you would change are the stock springs,for a set of kg/mnm Sport springs (398 F-448 R,I beleive).
That would take care of the variables! (everything else stays the same but springs)
What would the handling be like, then?:worse?
improved?
same(unchanged)?
Thanks.
If somebody really know,I would really appreciate a straight answer.

I can understand the theory of variables.

We found that anything over 1" (spring kits, not a coilover) actually performed worse than stock.
When I first installed my springs before my alignment....the handling was crap. I could feel it. After the alignment it feels much more solid again.
Drop it and not get it aligned....your handling will be ass....
