Default Springs? Shocks? Coilovers?

*Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum

I recently bought a MY02 with 38K miles. She now has 43K. The car is lowered on tein s-techs. The problem i have is that the ride quality is really crappy. It feels really rough. Are the shocks going bad? The previous owner drove it to big bear a few times while she was lowered so can that affect the life of the shocks?

I know the S is known for her rawness and gokart-like handling so maybe im just being paranoid. Anyways I was thinking about going back to my stock springs, as the previous owner did include them with the purchase.

I have yet to track my S and do not intend to anytime soon. She's a daily driver that gets about 50miles a day 4 times a week. I just wanted some opinions.

1. go back to stock
2. aftermarket shocks and springs combo
3. coilovers

My previous car was a 95 GS-R and i had tanabe sustec pro full dampening and height coils. However I never used the height adj option, i just left it at the same height from the time i got them til the time i sold the car. I also just left the dampening at the lowest level since i prefer a comfortable ride. Since I don't track my car, i'll rarely use the height, rebound, compression or dampening options, so is it better just to not get coils at all?

Don't get me wrong I love the S and its outstanding handling but the ride right now seems "abnormal".

I just wanted to get this out there and possibly get some advice as to why i think my car feels like that and any opinions on which route to go

Also is there any one that has a solely daily driver with coilovers and simply loves the handling and feeling.

Thanks for your time

1.) go back to stock, you use the car way to much.

Im gonna install my stock springs and see how it works out for me. I'll probably just have honda do it. This way i can have them take a look at my shocks too. If anything I will definitely go with revmatch's suggestion and get the CR setup

Thanks

Sorry I didn't chime in sooner, but FWIW, you're making the best choice. You can always go back later if you like, or go with springs that will keep the ride closer to stock, but the stock suspension represents an excellent set of compromises, and I suspect you'll be very happy with it once you give it a try.

LOL, but the ride is probably still going to be a bit stiffer than what you're use to.

keep the coils and buy a set of Koni adjustable shocks, if you like the lowered look. They'll work better with the lower coils than the stock shocks do.

I think the main reason is that i bought the car with the s-techs and being it's my first S, i really don't know what stock rides like. My S is the only AP1 that i've driven. However i drove my friend's 07 ap2 and its a world of difference.

My first set up choice was getting the koni yellows and putting the stechs on that but i'll probably hold off on that being that I am broke.
