yikes. ive only spun out (unintentionally) during snow, luckily traffic was little to non-existant.

got used to clutch in, brake + e-brake...(I usually do that at Drift Nirvana competitions.)

i ran my S where there was no tread lines left in the rear with the oem RE050 from SD to LA and back in medium rain. i'm not a an expert rain driver but the key for me has always been not upsetting the balance of the car. no sudden stops, no 2/3 to full throttle accelerations (given), quick turn-ins where all the weight is being transfered to one area. even when i had the bald rears i never once lost control in the rain or had the vsa kick in. also when it does rain and if the area or parking lot permits, it doesn't hurt to practice regaining control if you can't go to a professional driving school.

in the case of what happened to the poster it would've been okay to get on the throttle a bit with opposite lock to straighten the car, but stabbing on the brakes after you've just stepped on the throttle is a no-no. you probably would have done it anyway (O.L.) because your mind would have told your hands to do it.

Its rare for me to drive the S2000 in wet conditions anymore, but I have two comments:

1)I always use EXTREME caution when its even SLIGHTLY damp. The S2000 quite squirrely in wet conditons. You can not be too careful with the S2000 in wet weather.

2)I NEVER let my tires get below 50% tread before replacing them. Not only because of the grip issues in the wet, but also due to every time I get new tires I am always amazed how much grip I had lost gradually over time and not really noticed. TONS of tread=TONS of grip.

Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Its really not THAT big a deal. Learn the car and have some common sense. The S is my first rwd car and I drive it daily through harsh Canadian winters where the road is rarely dry! I have never had an issue and never even had any close calls. Sometimes its good to learn what the car can do in harsh conditions so you dont panic. Many say to do some autocrosses in the rain to REALLY learn what the car is about and how to handle the limit. Just my opinion however!

I agree with the above post. I've driven my s on ice with really no troubles at all. We just got done with a group drive on some very curvy mountain roads, and were still able to drive pretty spirited without alot of trouble (any really). If you treat the car with respect, and know how to maintain the balance, it will treat you well today. The most I've ever spun the car was about 90 degrees, and that was while autocrossing today. I was able to stop tell spin and keep on going with out hitting any cones.

Driving the s in the rain just takes some patience and respect. When in doubt, drive slow.

Sorry dude, but tell your friend that's a stupid ass way of driving on public roads. Any dumbshit can redline every gear and go fast. So cool doing that with traffic around huh? It shows no control.............
