If your mechanic doesn't know how to start your S2000, then you're taking your car to the wrong mechanic.

If you are in the process of spinning out on the track, both feet should be on the floor (brake and clutch down). If for some reason you stall, just hit the start button.

um. Honda did that for a reason.

You can manage ALL of hte controls of this car without moving your hand off the wheel, which is why the volume is a lever. The start button is made that way so you can turn the car back on faster. It's a RACE CAR.

I dont know why im replying to an idiot.
Race cars don't have AC, leather seats, clocks, or, most tellingly, RADIO CONTROLS AND A KEY. I like my S, but I don't suffer from the delusion that it is anything other than a good value in a performance car. A "racing pedigree" is about the worst reason I can think of to buy a car, as it's mostly a load of marketing BS.

I design products for a living, and the S is extremely refined in almost every detail, but it's obvious where the designers won an argument for keeping the control layout symmetrical in spite of usability.

I dont know why I'm replying to an idiot.

the S2000 was intended to be a tribute to the Honda F1 heritage, hence the RPM readout , but I think the start button was to to keep the race inspired feeling when you sit in the car. I like it, made the car different, I think the viper was one of the first cars I saw back in '93 that was not a race car that had a start button, now a lot of high end cars have them like Lexus.

I fail to see how a volume knob would be more ergonomic, it would be much more difficult to operate with you hand on the wheel. To go a step further, the volume level is one of the details of the car that impresses me, it's got brilliant tactile feel and is exactly where it needs to be. I know the value of knobs, and in fact there is one... on the radio.

I think the OP should take a little more time with the car and try understanding why the designers made the choices they did, instead of blasting off with preconceived notions.

PS- I love the start button!!!!!

So every car that's ever been street raced is a race car?

Interesting point of view I guess..

So you meant what? Club Racing? Pro Racing?

Autocrossing a car doesn't make it a race car either.

And if you meant Club/Pro racing, then yes, those are race cars... and they have nothing in common with a S2000 street car.

This is pretty off topic now anyways, it just amuses me to see people consider an S2000 to be "hard" and "unstreetable" and a "race car". Hell, the S2000 is the best long drive comfort car I've ever owned, I love this car on road trips
