The start button is actually a retro thing, it was quite common with old sports and racing cars.

Many MG's in the 60s and 70s were fitted with start buttons, for example.

Interesting. But I do think it is because of the S2k that push button starters are seen on so many cars today.

Yes - they seam to be the first to bring it back. And it became somewhat of a fad. I remember when I owned an RSX-S one of the common things people would do was to replace the harzard switch with the Engine Start button from the S.

As you can see from this image - the hazard button (right side of the radio) is way too far away from the driver.

I put one in my civic, I just drilled a hole in the dash and installed a OEM S2000 starter button. It worked perfectly. The S was the car of my dreams as a 17 year old so having the iconic piece of the s2000 in my car was (at the time) one of my favorite parts of my civic.
