When I've spun racing, I definitely have to turn the key. Often it wouldn't even turn back on after the first try. At least on my AP1.

So what production cars came with a Start Button prior to the S2000? Obviously race cars and aftermarket ricers have it, but were there cars that came with a start button from the factory (that weren't something like an F40 or ultra-exotic)?

^^ I don't even have to push the clutch! little off topic but I'll brag anyway I got rid of the clutch interlock and LOVE it! The best part is being able to start the car without getting in, highly recommended mod.
Not necessary. I've never have a need to start my car without being in it even when tuning. I prefer the safety feature since I'm sure I would try to start it while in gear eventually.

Those Jeeps they used in the military before Hummers and the Jeeps the US Post Office used in the 70's had push button starters.

I want to say no...I sat in one a few years ago and don't remember one. BTW - S600 engine = one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard.

it's cool to have one but i think it's pretty pointless just like some of the bmw push starts...why would i turn the key then reach over and press a button? even the altimas have it better...just push the button and go.

i would still rather have the button than no button though lol

My uncle's 1960s Austin Healey Sprite has one. Pretty sure it has switches for fuel and ignition, too (been a while since I drove it). Starting that car is quite a procedure.

I'll back you up on this one, the car knows somehow. When I've had a wicked spin out during some "spirited driving" as we'll call it the car wouldn't fire up again until I turned the ignition off and back on. Clutching in and pressing the button would not start the car. This was in my old '04.

The S2000's start button is really more of a gimmick to make the car feel more race inspired. And modern day systems make sense to have a start button if there is no real key (keyless go). Other than that I can think of a reason why another car would have it.
why you stealing my thread?

This is what I was asking from post #1.

I agree with you tho about the turn key THEN push button. That's kinda dumb.
