I dunno why a couple of you have buttons that work without the clutch in, if you haven't made any changes to the clutch interlock mechanism.
I've pressed the start button several times with the clutch out and it doesn't turn the starter. In fact, if I have the car in neutral, hold the start button down and tap my left foot on the clutch (while still holding the engine start button) the car will start and not grind the starter.
Laws require the clutch in to start...dunno why some of you experience otherwise.

A 2008 grinds.. (i dont remember if the clutch was pressed or not)
I was trying to turn-off the car. My old car was keyless so the start button is used to turn it on AND off (i need to get used to old school "keyed" cars again)

Yes. The Service Manual is copyrighted material. To provide copies of it would be illegal. Don't be a cheap-ass. If you can afford a 30K sports car, you can afford a 60 dollar manual.
The OP doesn't need the AP1 manual (and said he found it anyway), but to anyone else who needs the AP1 service manual, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a link to download the PDF.

Anyway, there was a similar thread about this same topic not too long ago. I believe the consensus was that it WILL grind if you push the button while the engine is running, so I don't recommend everyone go home and try it. Go to the dealership for a "test drive" and try it on their car instead

The fact of the matter is that it's illegal to provide or use copyrighted material like this. And just as importantly, it's unethical to do it. If you have no sense of ethics, then that's your personal affliction, not mine. Companies don't provide these products for you to use free of charge. They do it so they can make money and stay in business.
