starter button grind

Default starter button grind

If you push the start button while the the car is running should you get a grinding sound? sometimes i do and sometimes i dont.

i have done it 2 times on accident that is and on both times i heard the grinding sound

If you didn't have the clutch to the floor, then you won't because the starter will not have engaged. It will pretty much always grind because the speed of the flywheel is so much faster than the speed at which the starter bendix is turning. The teeth simply won't mesh.

yes - that's like turning the key when you have a car running...go try it on a cheap, button free car, it will make the same sound...

bottom line, if it grinds, I'd think don't do it again...
