Steering Wheel Sensitivity
There have been a lot of comments by car magazines about the lack of road feel in the S2K's steering wheel. Since my wife drives a BMW (considered to have great road feel), I have had the opportunity to compare and I agree with their assessment. However, I have noticed that the bottom half of the S2K's steering wheel has a lot more road feel than the top where most sensible drivers keep their hands. Could it be that excessive padding on the top of the steering wheel has deadened road feel? Has anyone else noticed this? I urge you to try driving with your hands in the normal 10-2 position and then immediately placing your hands in the 7-5 position to see if there is a huge difference in road feel. I think you'll be surprised at the difference.
For more leisurely driving, I would agree that the steering feels fine. But for more enthusiastic driving, the steering feels a little remote from the road. You can't adequately sense what's happening at the front wheels and you certainly cannot feel what's happening at the backend through the steering.
