I was wondering this too, because I was considering a carbon fiber one. The OEM one is pretty light, so I just figure it'd just be a waste of time and money to replace it.

The Stook's hood weighs about the same as 4-5 cases of empty Coors cans.

i think it is unless you have lots of money to spend and you like the look of CF... it would be better to replace other body panels with CF if your looking to loose weight on your s2k.

but i would still like to know how much it weighs... (apart from a beer can comparison )

anyone?

thanks

does anyone know the weight of any other body panels like the trunk and doors (with full trim)? what about the weight of the amuse CF trunk. anyone know that?

im putting together a spreadsheet of S2000 weight so i can see the biggest parts to save weight on.

so far the best weight savers i have are:
header - 18 lbs (amuse)
exhaust - 42 lbs (amuse)
wheels - 9 lbs (spoon. of course there are probably lighter wheels)
seats - 18 lbs (spoon)

of course if the hood weighs 20 lbs then you can save almost 15 lbs by going to the amuse CF hood. altho it will cost a couple thousand...

ive probably got about 175 lbs removed in sprung weight with lighter weight parts...but at a cost of at least $9000

[edit]i was looking at ZigzagAsia.com and one of the cars on there has the amuse CF hood. they said it takes 3.3 kg off of the cars weight. so if thats right then the stock hood only weighs 5.7 kg (12.57 lbs).[/edit]
