Stock or Modified?
Mine will remain stock. That's by far the most economical choice. Also, for resale, a buyer will assume the car has had an easier life. I never buy moded cars. I don't like the increased repair risk. The return on investment of mods is poor- except the hardtop if purchased used.
I have read ~ 100 car mags a year for decades, and I'm rarely impressed with the measured improvements of modifications relative to cost.
A few items I consider worth buying:
1:Hardtop (used)
2:"full length floor mats"
3:Excellent tires
4:Audio mods to your taste
I've bought 1 & 2, love both ( bought used). I could sell them any day for at least what I paid....

Great thread.
I bought my S two years ago. A year ago I planned to install wheels, a supercharger and catback exhaust and gathered the parts during the winter, while my car was stored. When spring came, however, I decided that only the wheels were appropriate. I sold the supercharger. I have been going back and forth on the exhaust, which is still in my house. I will probably install it in the spring just to see what it's like, then go back to stock.
The S is simply a great car stock...and now that I have a supercharged daily driver (see sig), I see little need to modify the S.

Looks wise I dont think the S2k needs much modification. Little things like tuner wheels, a slight drop & front lip are always nice.
If you want some power get a mild reliable supercharger setup and exhaust.
I love my turbo, but the manner in which I have to drive it & constantly maintain the car now compared to stock has its draw backs.

I bought the S2000 because it was a car I wouldn't have to modify to enjoy. I prefer cars to projects, and if I wanted a 400 hp car, I'd go buy one. That said, as things need to be replaced, I will usually upgrade them over time. The only exception for me was the stereo - Honda really put a crap stereo in this car, so that had to get replaced. Pretty much everything else has happened piecemeal over time to make the car more my own.
Well i did modify my old evo so i told myself keep it clean and simple with the CR. So far ipod adapter, painted exaust tips, debaged and tint. Nest will be remote start with alarm and some new wheels next year.
When they save the carpet from wearing out, I think they are well worth it. I would rather spend $350 in mats than have the carpet wear through. Have you ever actually checked out the mats in person they are INSANELY well constructed, factory mats are like paper in comparison. The fitment is just perfect and there is not much factory carpet exposed at all. They are like throwing a bullet proof vest over the factory carpet. The superior construction along with taking proper care of them and mine show not one ounce of wear.
I guess it helps that mine came with the car from the previous owner and I did not really pay for them. The funny thing is I had no idea what they were and when the owner told me my car would come with them and the factory mats I told him just to keep the Mutts mats and give me the factory ones (that is how adamant I was on keeping the car completely stock). He explained that once I actually saw the mats in person I would be quick to change my mind, well the factory mats have not gone in my car in the 1 1/2 years that I have owned it.
And yes there are select times that I sleep on them
