Stock or Modified?
I love my S2K and if I didn't have to moddify it, I wouldn't. Unfortunately or fortunately (however you want to look at it) I have to moddify the car to make it safe for tracking it. I bought the car to explore the limits so safety is key. Tires and brake pads for track days are also a plus and I'd certainly buy any OEM accessory (aka Hardtop) but otherwise I think stock is the way to go.
I prefer clean mods if I do any mods.
The S2000 already has very good suspension from the factory I see no need to change it yet. The factory stereo and speakers leave something to be desired so those get changed out first.
The only thing I've done is add the OE front lip, rear OE wing, JDM clear front signals and side markers and keep her in good tires! Good tires mean more than any suspension mods you could ever do to this car.
If I do anything else to it, it will be 1" drop and fully adjustable shocks.

1. how many millions did honda spend developing this car? who am i to modify it
2. reliability, one mod affects all kinds of things and ....and its a domino effect
3. who am i racing? what is an extra 0.5 seconds going to do for me? i can get 0.5 seconds by hitting the track more and practicing more
unless you race it professionally.... stock all the way

I bought a computer in 1999 that came with a CRT monitor. I'm keeping it stock, baby!!!! None of this fancy LCD stuff for me!
hehe
When I bought my used s2k it came with a few mods on it, which I thought were pretty cool at the time of purchase. Since that time I've found myself removing just about all mods that were on the car, and I've gone back to the stock parts. I find that the car feels better in many different ways with the stock parts. I've modified many vehicles that I've owned in the past, for some reason I find that this car is pretty much perfect with the stock setup. It feels as though the engineers at Honda scrutinized every part and it just seems perfect to me. Everyone has their own taste and opinion though, it is a personal decision.
i bought a 240sx and swapped in a sr20det, added all kinds of parts, coilovers, better turbo kit, fmic, kei office coilovers, all kinds of goodies. I spent close to 7k on the car and i could never get it to run right. i was going to just do coilovers, hardtop, wheels, and exhaust on my s2000 but when i heard the turbo spool on my 240sx i sold that pile and bought a turbo kit for my S. I only got $3k out of my 240sx in return. so i know i'll never make money on a car
