Default Stook for MSRP in CA?

Help! After weeks of deliberation I've finally decided to go with the S2000 instead of the 2002 BMW M Roadster (with the new 315hp engine). Anyway it took a little digging but I managed to get the #1 spot on the list at MSRP for the M, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to find a respectible Honda dealership that would do the same for the Stook. After calling most of the dealers in my area, the lowest mark-up I could find was $3000 over MSRP. I did find one dealership that said no markup, but they weren't taking people on a waiting list and you have to buy it with ALL (perma-plate, lojack, extended warranty etc) the options so the total cost is around 40k!

So, I guess my question is, has anyone in northern california found a dealership that will:

1) waitlist with their choice of color/options
2) sell the car for MSRP

Thanks for any help you can give!

There should be some helpful information in there. I started a thread with basically the same question as yours. I'm looking to close a deal on thursday with a southern cali dealer.

As I say over and over go to Priceline.com let them do the shopping....I got mine at MSRP through a small dealer in El Centro last Februarry. Excellent service and results. Costs 50 bucks if they find you a car and nothing if they don't. What's to lose??

I live in San Diego and ended up running into the same problems you have. Try searching online. I eventually went out of state to order my Stook. I ended up getting it shipped from Ohio for 500 under MSRP. So there are places to get it cheaper that what you've been told. you just have to find it

I bought mine @ Merced honda for MSRP and got to order the color I wanted. No forced options. They don't get very many s2k's but you could give them a try.

honda world in downey - that worked for me - msrp - talk to jeff, the owner, he gave me a great deal - no hassles, bought it in an hour or so(he did have 3 s2k's - one blk, two silver - I bought a silver). the salesman I dealt with was jimmy lee - the fleet manager. He drives an s2000 - also races it scca. He's already started modifying it as well.

before I went to honda world I called 4 of the local orange county dealers and told them what I wanted and they were all packaging the cars to be over 38k with overpriced spoilers, emblem kits, you name it. I even called my credit union who buys through autoland and they wanted 3k over msrp.

Got mine for MSRP at Vacaville Honda (707)449-5900. However they do put some options on their cars that you have to pay for, but you can see what they have in now.
