I don't agree with selling it right now. The market is terrible to sell a car right now, especially a convertable in the winter time. I think that the beating he will take will offset any gains from investing the $. Assuming that he has low mileage, if he can freeze his 2002 in time right now by storing it well, he will have one of the lowest AP1s around come 2013

I guess it would not hurt to put it up for sale for the price you want and don't budge from that price. You have the luxory of not really have a major interest either way. I just think with the market the way that it is you won't get the $ you want for it.

Good point with the winter thing -- if you can hold off until March on the sale it shouldn't be a problem...still plenty of demand for this. The market is oversaturated with certain vehicles, but the S2000 is not one of them.

There will be a film of oil that surrounds all the components. It will only be thin, but it will fully cover it.

I have had allsorts of engines left for years. Do an oil change and then off your go - zero issues.
maybe if you spray some fogging oil into the intake manifold like you would on a boat.

what if you just took like fifteen quarts of oil and just topped off the entire engine. then there certainly would not be any thin coat of oil. upon return, drain that beach...

I know engine will stay lubricated, but just not sure about everything else (i.e. trans, diff, anything rubber, etc).
and I'm seeing a lot of S going for real cheap price, I'd much rather keep it then sell it.
If I can keep it clean for next several, mine will be one of those with a very low milage.

James, thanks for the offer, lol how you been man!
I'm in oversea right now, my S's of course sittting in the nice warm storage unit. Can't wait to wake her up and rip it!

C'Mon people - he's going to store it for 2 years not 200....

Use the same methods as for storing over the winter, Definately Stabil or drain the tank......

I would probably put on jack stands as well.

Your car will be just as you left when you return to restart....... Bigest danger is keeping rodents out!

There's been untold number of cars stored for much longer periods with no damage....

For God's sake it"s a car not a Monet stuffed in the garage.

I would consider draining the tank, I am not sure how difficult it would be. I would not put it up on jack stands though, unless you put stands under the control arms so that the suspension does not hang.

I agree 100% on the rodent issue, there have been some good tips on keeping rodents out. People seem to like the bait that you buy and apparently pepermint oil inside of the car and trunk will keep them out.
