Has anyone had a strut failure? I have been having an adventure with the the NJ state inspection. They say that I have had a strut failure, but the dealer has looked at it and doesn't believe that it's true. There is no leaking but it appears to be not damping at all.
Has anyone else had a front strut problem?

How can they tell? Hope they are not pushing your aluminum hood up and down...

Yes, they replaced my right front strut when I had 2,000 miles on the car. I heard a clunk in the front several times and I took it in. Fortunately the tech drove it and heard it too. They didn't have time to take it in then so I made an appointment. When I brought it back the service manager thought I was stupid bringing in the car with just 2,000 miles because of a clunk. Didn't he feel sheepish when he had to call me about replacing the strut. I now have 12,000 miles and no further strut problems. Broke my lower pulley though.

Looks like we may have found a way to test aftermarket suspensions!
