s2000's have a short first gear (or so i have read) probley makes you think second gear is also short. it should be good for 58 to 60 MPH at 9k.

This is the way the transmission was designed. I'm not sure what kind of HELP you need. "Help" would indicate you need something resolved. It's like asking, "My last car revved up to 6500 rpm. How come this one revs to 9000? What's wrong?"

You can get up to 65mph in 2nd on an AP1 which you cant do on a lot of other manuals (economy cars anyways). the gearing is relatively short but the nature of a 9200rpm cutoff kind of extends the speed available on the gear.

Yes as long as you reach the above stated speeds in second you should be okay. You think yours is short, check out an AP2 s2000 (2004+), we have even shorter gearing 1-4, its fun though =)

ok ill try to explain this better during wot 2nd gear only seems to be useful for two or three seconds as opposed to all other gears i go through which are useful for much longer
for some reason 2nd gets to redline much quicker than others
hard to explain but hope that helps what i am experiencing some
