I had my headlights fog up and the honda dealership said they couldnt do anything. I called Honda America and got them replaced for free. I wonder if they will replace the top because it is nearly impossible to see out of the rear window.... maybe that could be a safety defect. I only have 22000 miles, but its an 00.

Good job with that but 511 seems high if its covered 75%.. i was covered 50% and paid 565. what they did is that the service manager from honda had the work done at a local place so instead of the labor being 500-1000 dollars, it was like 200-400 dollars.

I think it is very interesting that Honda care has different levels of "goodwill" that they extend for the same issue.

Maybe the decision matrix they use is tied to KEY words like DEFECT, SAFETY, ect ect. I harped on "defect"

A couple years we had a write-in campaign about upgrading the plastic to glass based on safety, etc. We all got a polite NO WAY letter.

I would be interested if other people with different problems had similar success--definately a good thread.

Now I've got a hole and I'm going to try this strategy. I'll let you know what happens.

BTW, how did the new top come out?

The part is at the dealership but I had to reschedule the install until Jan 10 since i'm on vacation until then and didn't want to be without. I'll have before and after pics to update the process.

Honda Care (extended warranty) denied my claim. Their reason was the top is not covered because it is considered interior trim or soft trim and my milage is too high. For everyone's information, I have a MY01 with 56,xxx miles, and extended Honda Care Warranty til 100,000 miles. I bought this car in May of 2004 with 50,xxx miles on it. All oil changes were done at the dealership (They only charge $9.99 for any Honda, which is cheaper than I can buy the oil and filter for.).

I have since contacted Honda America Customer Service and they will assign a case worker to see if this can be goodwilled. I'll update my situation when I hear back in 24 to 48 hours.

Are you F'n kidding me? The top is considered interior trim? Honda's flagship vehicle's convertible top is only supposed to last 4 years and 50k miles? I'm pretty pissed now (unless they goodwill me a new top). This is the second warranty claim denied (The first was for the clutch buzz TSB 054 a week after I bought the car. They said the clutch couldn't be replaced because it was a wear item.) What's the purpose of purchasing the extended warranty if they are just going to deny valid claims?!!

Does anyone have any advice in the event I am turned down again by Customer Service? Or am I just screwed?
