Hey Jon.,

When buying a car you should really get what appeals to you. As you can see we all love the S. I am in SoCal so our weather is good most of the year. Thus I drive with the top down almost all of the time. You get pretty good weather in Miami, right. Anyway... The car is fun to drive. It is fast. But fast depends on what you want to do with it. Have your brother take you out and test drive some cars. As for specific info on the S you can find it by doing a search.

Good luck in your car hunting.

From my experience you should get a front wheel drive car without much power. Of course you are most likely thinking that you are responsable enough to handle an S2000 or any other 35000 dollar car, I did when I bought my third car at age 18. It was a Trans-am WS6, I took it into a ditch. This past summer I had bought an STi after having a WRX for two years. I sold the STi to a 17 year old kid after having it for 2 weeks just because I didn't like it. I recently heard that he totaled it. It is my opinion that the S2000 should be reserved for people who have a little more experience in driving. I know that if you got a S you would be inspired at some point in your ownership to show your buddies how hard it pulls once you hit V-tech, this could be very dangerous as our cars go from docile to completely mad. If you have made up your mind to get a fast car at 16 which has good performance I would look into something like the WRX which is a great car with AWD. You should clean up your line-up of cars they are a bit random I would say stay away from the mustang cobra and the S2000 as your first car.

of your short list: celica, civic, or s2000...

if you really need to ask us which we think is better (we being a s2000 forum) then you have come to the wrong place.

well thanks alot dan that's a good opinion coming with experience well i'll be 18 when i get the money and put the shop up... i know that 18 can still be not a age to handel a car like that... but i think i can handle it... yes ofcourse im gonna be showing my friends the ride and stuff... but even i think i won't be racing or nothing... since i know it's dangerous... but yes i know at some point i will maybe wanan race but knowing that the coast is clear i don't know... i mean i do drive really good for my little experience my family tells me... my sister has a year driving and i drive better then her but well... i was reading stuff about the s2000 and it says it has awsome handling... plus i really like the interior and how it looks... especialy with that veilside body kit that iw ould prolly get for the car... here in miami there is alot of mad people that like to race and stuff... but i would prolly not be doing that... dan what's a wrx? subaru?.....
dan you don't have a s2000? well i appreciate your opinion... it would be cool if other people would also let me know what's up with the s200 like performance and stuff... even though i am browsing this site.... thanks dan....

well, jon let me tell you this:

s2k hands down. if you have 35 G's midas well spend close to it. sure you can get an si or a celica and then spend the additional money to supe it up and have it equal the performance of the S, but why? Just start with the S. Plus, once you put the top down you can't go back. The sound of the f20 ripping through 9k rpm's witht the top down is a life changing experience. And that's STOCK.

Also consider this. You are going to be 18 when you get this car right? How many 18 yr olds do you see with celica's and civic's? Plenty right? How many 18 yr olds do you see with s2k's? You have an awesome bro, so take advantage of it!

btw, stay away from veilside! check out some of the other body kits in the photo section of this forum and you'll see cars that are waaaay nicer than you've seen anywhere else before. just my humble opinion but veilside good luck with your quest

Who's Dan? I can't figure out if you meant this to be a PM, or if you meant to post it in some other existing thread.
