Super charger question
I have always wondered why they don't make blowers that run off an electric motor (maybe they do and I just don't know about it). An electric motor should be able to run at much higher RPMs without taking away power from the engine. It would be easy to create a controller that varied blower speed with RPMs. Does anyone know anything about this? Just a thought. Thanks.
By the time you add all of the power requirements that are already in a car and see what is left, a larger altenator would have to be installed. Until they replace the current systems with a 42 or 48 volt system, you won't see this even tried on a street car. The current electrical systems are pretty well maxed out. There will be more cars with electric steering with the higher voltage systems.
In racing, they are mainly at high RPM and electric blowers would not help them much, if at all.

Here's the link, make sure you see the video of an operating E-charger
