Actaully, unless you are getting wheel-hop your diff is not being stressed. When you do a high-rpm launch, the diff stays locked and both tires spin. If you get axle hop, the diff loads and unloads with each hop - destroying the diff pretty fast. We did upwards of 60-70 launches between 3 drivers at the SCCA ProSolo in Ft. Myers and the diff was fine. We'll see how it holds up after a season of this type of abuse - it will be a good durability test for the stook diff.

Wesmaster,

I was wondering which MAP sensor adapter did you receive? The ~1/4 " or so silver or black original one or the really large ~1/2" one... You spoke of hesitation and I was wondering if it is due to the older MAP sensor adapter...

shaner, are you saying there have been three different map sensor adapters to date?
Please elaborate.

Thanks,

I'll post some pics later... I have three total: two that look similar except for color (that came with the kit) and another that was sent to me a few weeks later...

Did the instructions tell you why there were two adapters included to begin with (i.e. cold weather vs warm)?

Did you experience problems with the original installation that Comptech was trying to fix for you when they sent you the 3rd adapter?

What explanation was given to you with the delivery of the third adapter? Was it to alleviate a potential problem or an existing problem or ...... ?

Do you know if all SC owners received the update?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very confused at this point. All we've heard to date were raving reviews on the SC kit with no problems. Now we hear of drivability problems from potentially more than one source.

We have changed the design of the MAP sensor checkvalve. The original design apparently was affected by cold weather, much colder than we get here in California, and the diaphram wouldn't work properly. The new design(the larger checkvalve) has some of the internal features separated from each other and that's why it's larger.

Here's an FYI for those of you who like to launch the car real hard. We just found out that when you combine our supercharger + ACT 6 puck disc & pressure plate + 265/35-18 tires + magazine writer doing smokey burn-outs = differential goes BOOOM!!!! We haven't seen the car yet but we've been told that the differential housing is broken. Which means the whole thing is probably junk. So those differentials are not bulletproof.

Thanks for the feedback Mike. And as for the diff blowing, not really a surprise. There's no way I'd let a journo in my car .

BTW, do you have any distribution agreements in Aus? I'm looking towards an SC, but would feel better getting it through a local supplier for warranty reasons.

I think they'd have to redesign and replace the entire drivetrain, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, differential, axles, and spindles.
