At this point in time it's a case of Comptech Supercharger versus non-existant turbo charger (or at best a custom job).

Comptech have done a great job with this and go a long way to fix problems like the above. These are the reasons to favour a supercharger.

Thanks for the info AusS2000!!! I had a VW Corrado and loved the G60 supercharger but the G60 had common repairs with over 80k miles.

The temp gauge has stayed the same. I have 3 gauges (boost, air/fuel, and exhaust temp as recommended by installer) on the way, expecting to do something cool with the install of those, and a clutch disc and plate (both Comptech) on the way too. Those are the next mods, probably nothing major anytime soon. I need a capacitor for my system, but that's about all.

Wesmaster,

I'll take a stab at your hesistation problem.

There are two basic areas to look at.

First is fuel pressure. Does your Adjustable FP
regulator have a guage on it? Comptech probably
mentions optimal fuel pressure specs in their
SC instructions. Comptech runs really
high fuel pressure. The car isn't "spark Knocking/
pinging" is it? Check it out.

If you don't have a gauge on the regulator then
you'll need to purchase one and a adaptor for your
Honda. A FP gauge is really important for diagnosing
driveability problems and it's not too expensive.
When I use mine I prefer to tape it to the windshield
so I can check when the problem occurs while I'm driving.

Second area is ignition.
Does the car backfire out of the intake (front of thr car)
If could be as simple as a fouled spark plug. You'll
find that if you drive hard you will have to change your
plugs much more often with a SC'ed car.

Those are the easy things to check/change. You should
also do a good visual inspection. Pay close attention
to the Map sensor, Throttle position sensor and front
Oxygen sensor. Make sure the connectors are tight.

Is the "check engine" light on? If it is then just bust
out another 3k for a good scan tool to read the codes and
pids or find a friendly Driveability Tech from a Dealer
who needs a little side work.

Hope it's something simple.

Unfortunately, none of those is the issue. The only close one, would be the fuel regulator, but it's set by Comptech before delivery. If it had been mis-set, I don't think I would have gotten 200 good miles and then suddenly have problems. I am going to stop by my installer and just have him take a look, just to see if it's anything obvious such as you mentioned. I think that Comptech could tell from my description that it's none of the above. Thanks for the info.

Is there anyone out there who is NOT having driveability problems with their Comptech Supercharged S2000's?

Oh yes! According to Comptech there are 15 superchargers out, only 3 have reported an issue, and it's this same issue. The good thing is that this is not a major engine failure, this is the ECU seeing high air input and retarding the engine to protect it.

The problem is that it should not be reading that an alarming amount of air is coming in - based on Comptech's tests with their own S2000/MAP Sensor. Once the problem item is found it will probably be an easy fix, but finding the problem might not be that easy - especially with S2000's that are not in Cali. Luckily, one of the S2000's with an "issue" is in Cali and may be driving up to Comptech soon <hoping>.

Wesmaster,

So what is your next step to resolving the problem?

Well, I stopped by at the installer's location on my way to work to see if there were any tests he thought he could run. He said he certainly could. Mapping out the MAP sensor readings at different RPMs and throttle levels was the one we talked most about. I'm trying to contact Shad at Comptech to see what tests would be helpful to them.

While I was there I noticed another red S2K up on the risers. It had a cat back, not sure which one, big ol pipes. He was having the 1-2 grind fixed. I found out that the dealership here has accepted the problem and will fix it for only half an hours work charge ($40). I asked if when I get my clutch is a good time to do both, and the installer agreed. He said it would turn out that I get my clutch install for free. So I'm excited about getting rid of the grind - because it only shows up when I'm trying to show off .
