I hardly doubt it's your clutch by the way you describe it. What you're smelling is probably the unburnt fuel that isn't caught by your cat.
Get real

Totally clueless. This is a very clean car for a sportscar. I believe it is rated level II Federal emission standard. For a sportscar, that is pretty impressive

Unburned fuel through the cat Guess again Columbo

OK, I'll jump in and say I don't think it's the clutch either. I notice a smell sorta like what is described in my '01 sometimes. The smell I'm noticing is definitely NOT a clutch smell, and it does seem to be related to running it semi-hard. My impression was it was from the exhaust, next time I'll sniff around for it.

Drive behind one of your buddies when he brings it up to 9k and let me know what you smell. You will smell unburnt fuel.

The OP said there was a *BURNING SMELL*. Unburnt fuel does not produce a burning smell.

Try sniffing the tires.... that's usually the culprit for me...

You guys are crazy - it's the clutch. He posted another thread about a griding noise while taking off and I said that he was probably bogging the motor. He just needs a little manual driving practice. After this clutch is gone (everyone's first manual car needs a clutch after a year as they are just learning ) he'll be able to beef it up with something nice like a Competition or ACT setup.
