Default Switching to synthetic oil

Surprisingly, I have had no problem finding plenty of info on switching FROM synthetic, but I cannot find a thread about switching to synthetic from conventional. If someone could point out any relevant thread to me, I would appreciate it. Specifically I am switching to Mobile 1 Synthetic, and need to know if I need to do anything different than I would with a normal oil and filter change. Thanks

If you have leaks, fix the leaks first. Going synthetic with a leaky engine, will only make it leak worse. If it's tight, switch away.

Well my '02 just hit 17k miles, so I'm thinking I should be pretty leak-free. Sound reasonable?

my hint- install a fumoto valve...
makes changing any oil easier and no more crush washers needed!

other than that, synthetic is just a type of oil- except you dont have to change it as often!!
