Default taillight gasket

i ordered a new right side taillight gasket for an 05. i just want to make sure it wasn't packaged wrong or anything. it looks like the adhesive side faces the taillight, correct?

it appears like this: (taken from the taillight diy)

thanks!

one more thing. do i push the gasket through the studs over the washer part (thats how it was previously) or does it just get sandwiched between that flat part and the body?

as seen here: (on an rsx but i think you can get what i mean)

sorry for the newb questions. car was in a rear ender and its getting water in the lights so i can't assume it was put on correctly.

^^ Yes.

If you are getting water in the lights, that has nothing to do with the tail light gasket. That gasket you are replacing will prevent water from getting into the trunk.

If you need to try and prevent water from getting into the tail light housing, pick up some silicone sealant and seal up the tail lights... of course, make sure all the water is out first!
