Thumbs up Tear-Aid for our tops

I removed Tear-Aid from my top to replace it with a fresh one, but there is so much residue and gunk left over. Online, it says Goo Gone is safe for vinyl, but when I got home and looked at my Goo Gone bottle, says do not use on vinyl. Mine is a few years old - have they come out with a new formula that is now safe for vinyl or have they changed their minds? If Goo Gone is no good, then what other products can remove sticky gunk off vinyl? Thanks.

Is yours citrus based? The citrus-based Goo Gone in a spray bottle is ok for vinyl, but the I think the Goo Gone Automotive Cleaner is not.

Yep mine is the critus-based orangy-yellow liquid. On the label of the bottle, says not to use on vinyl. Mine isn't the spray version, but it's gotta be the same liquid. Worst case, I'll just have another hole to patch up if this things burns through the vinyl.
