^cuz you're not supposed to act like a 5 yr old
LOL, why not?

I ignore kids in Mustangs when I'm driving the S2000, but sometimes when I'm driving the Benz I get a kick out of surprising them. Old men in luxury cars aren't suppose to be able to pull their 'Stangs, and I always get a kick out of their reaction. I don't do it at every opportunity, but sometimes I get a wild hair.

Yea, it's immature. So is selecting an impractical roadster over more practical transportation. All adults have a kid on the inside, trying to get out, and those who suppresse it fully, miss a great deal of what life has to offer.

you are so very wrong in terms of philosophy that i can't begin to explain. i will say that true happiness and enjoyment of life usually needs to be thought through first. the rest are cheap short lived thrills.

Speaking of "back in the day," R&T did a little test several years ago - a 1960's Porsche 911 vs a new Honda Odyssey. The minivan was faster in just about every metric. But you know what? I'd take the 911 every time.

I occasionally enjoy showing up people in sports cars by taking corners sharper and faster in my Element than they are comfortable doing in their sports cars. A cheap thrill.

On this, we agree

Those of us that selected this car are enjoying being a 5 yr old that now carries a wallet and can buy fancier toys.

This car is about fun. The Olds98 is about maturity.

But think for a minute where the computer industry would be now if folks adopted the PC attitude of "I should be happy with what I get", "I should not want for more", "additional power to run several programs at once? Who needs that?".
Yeah, they'd be using Windows. And people who want more would use Macs.

[QUOTE=Ruprecht,Mar 20 2008, 03:36 PM]
My commutes have several 2 lanes going to one, and a few stop lights where 2 lanes goto one a bit after you make it through the light.

Folks like me, get in the lane that will not disappear in 200 yards on the stop light.

Other folks, folks that are better than me, whose time is more important than mine, will elect to 'skip' the line that has formed in the stable lane, then zoom right up on the mark for the lane that is going to vanish.

The s2k is at the low end of being perfectly balanced. Based on how the car handles, I think another 80-100 whp while maintaining the factory powerband shape would be perfect. My GTI is not balanced at all, as it handles nowhere nearly as well as my AP2, and it has twice the power. I haven't driven the GTI in a month.

Adding tons of hp allows me to have the stock hp at 4500-5000 rpms. Instead of you all having to redline to get maximum power to "compete" with other cars, I can merely shift like I'm driving normally and still almost beat any car on the road.
