How much does it all cost total? Not including track time because I wont have the S yet. And even if I dident do the track time id still be able to go and watch right? If the price is right I might go for it.

Greg,

I live in Sac, so I will be there. Already requested the needed days off. However, I won't be staying at any hotels. I may attend 1 day at Thunderhill and drive back home (haven't decided) but I WILL be at the dinner/gathering at the Sheraton on both days. What am I looking at cost-wise w/no hotel stays and (possibly) one track day? Please PM me and I will pay you promptly.

Thanks!!

Also, both me and my friend are not 18 yet...close...You have to be 18 to rent a room right? And its cool to bring a car other then the S2000 right? (not tracking it of course).

Both me and my friend are really considering this.

Also, the fee for the room isent PER person is it? If it is I dunno if we can make it.

I might add also that there was a tremendous outcry last year from the west coast at our holding S2KDays in Asheville last year, which is another reason we're pretty confused as to why response has been so sparse.

We have gone to a great deal of trouble to have an event where none of us are geographically located to address the concentration of owners who were both on the west coast and were so upset over the choice of last year's location. I and the other new S2KCA board members haven't been nearly as responsible for the events coming together in Sacramento as Greg and Brad have, and they deserve a lot of credit for going the extra mile to put all of this together. I also believe that those who were the most outspoken about our choice of Asheville last year and are not attending owe Greg and Brad a huge apology. They are TRULY feeling like they beat their heads into walls for no reason.

S2KCA faces HUGE potential financial problems if this event doesn't happen. It seems to make sense that if this event has to be canned, it may well be a long time before the west coast is chosen for another national event, if there is another event. Just food for thought...

Help us out folks... if you want to attend S2KDays, PLEASE go register and pay up NOW. We are truly within hours of making some very large do-or-die decisions in regards to this event!

i'd love to do it - i'd have been at asheville last year if i'd had my car - however, CA is just not a reasonable possibility. perhaps an east and west thing might be in order cause you know whichever coast it's on - all the others ain't gonna show up.

hey greg....to quote your title of this thread, perhaps things have changed....think about it, in the old days, the s2k community was small and rabid. out here, over time, things have changed a bit, s2k's abound....the new owners have become almost normal people.... the uniqueness of ownership has seemed to wear off...i know it's tough, but hot on the heels of asheville it seemed a good[if not great] idea....but you have to look at the possibility that it's too far for left-coasters to come and the right coasters have just lost interest.just a thought....

Here's my 2 cents:

You need to lower your expectations for national event turnouts. There will always be issues such as driving distance, cost, scheduling issues, and people who are one timers (been there, done that). Likewise, you need to do something specal for 'first timers' to make them feel they will be welcome.

Your logic for holding this year's event in CA made sense -- the largest concentration. There may be CA political splinter group issues that may not have been worked out yet -- I recall there was were lots of heated words a while back.

You need a definitive long term plan (i.e., we will be holding one national event with a location planned at least three years in advance. We will vary the locations through out the country (north, east, south, west, middle), so that almost everyone will have an opportunity to attend an event that is a reasonable driving distance every x number of years, etc.).

CA owner's need to understand that even if this event were a huge success, that it will be a few year's before a national returns to CA.

You need to advertise the events better. Personally, I think having a seperate forum for events - away from the General Interest Forum - is a 'bad' idea. I seldom read it. What happened to the 'paying' members newsletter? This is another way to build and maintain interest.

You may wish to give more thought to the month you choose. Younger single people can go any time but for many families June is a very busy month with graduations, open-houses, young children's t-ball, softball, etc. Events after the 4th of July generally seem to be better attended.

Track time is neat, for those who love that sort of thing. But many do not or feel it's too soon to risk their new car. It's a lot of money for someone who will only get a dinner and see some vendors. You need to plan alternative things -- just look how well attended some of the scenic drive events have gone.

I've spouted off enough. I wish you well and hopefully the last minute plea will generate more interest. If it were a little closer, I'd be there.
