Things gotta change...
Greg, Sondra, (et al.):
I'm at a loss as to why a west coast event wouldn't be a HUGE success
It seems like a good drive from Salt Lake, Seattle, Portland, anywhere in NoCal, what's the deal? The cost is reasonable (and thanks for you effort to secure the facilities).
It's time like this when I wish that I lived a little closer to the States. I just check MapQuest, and I don't think I'll be able to make the 3094.2 mile trip (ONE WAY).
Anyway, kudos for your work in organizing the events, I hope it works out to at least a break even.

So has the event officially been cancelled? With the past success of Ashville and the interest expressed in having a west-coast event, I can't believe what's happening.
If this is truly cancelled, how are refunds going to be handled? Of course S2KCA will refund my PayPal account (Visa) but should I call the Sheraton Grand and cancel my reservations?

FYI: We (myself & speedventures) have obtained the 2 thunderhill track days and we WILL be putting together a mini event around the track days.
I will be posting more information very shortly.

Sorry, for you guys, that it didn't work out.

Does this mean it's officially dead? No dinner or vendor event? That's a bummer
.We are sorry, for you guys, that you put so many hard hours into something that flopped.
I haven't yet talked to the hotel, but cancelling it is my goal. I hoipe to have it all wrapped up today. The sooner we get out from underneath it, the better for the hotel and the less likelihood that we won't have to pay some sort of penalty.
Yes, like I said, thousands of personhours went into this. We have logos created for the tshirts, just about every leading vendor for stuff S2000-related was planning on showing up for the expo. Can't swing it on so few attendees.
It's a real shame that no one was interested enough...we busted our ass on this.
And canceling it means that it goes away completely. No dinners. No vendors. No Comptech Open House.
Once I get word from the hotel, I'll post about it and we'll figure a way to get the 27 people's money back. Probably will write checks so that we don't have to take another hit with PayPal fees.

Assuming s2kdays is cancelled and s2kca survives this setback, would the board consider trying to organize an event on the east coast this year? September and October in the east are great months and perfect for drive around in the s2k.
