Things gotta change...
Greg is right about the economics. We can't justify coming that far or sponsoring for such a low turnout.
As for an east coast event, we are within several days of announcing the date and preliminary details for Fall Colors 2002, which this year will be in the beautiful Bear Mountain/West Point area of New York, along the Hudson River valley.
We're choosing between the weekends of October 5 and October 19. This year, Fall Colors is a weekend event, with two event hotels (budget and mid-range), more formal clinics, autocross instruction, a vendor's expo, and, of course, a fabulous drive along the cliffs, parks, and forests surrounding the Hudson River.
In a few days, we'll have enough details so that people can make plans.

I started a thread in Meets and Events entitled "S2KCA/S2KDays Thunderhill Track Day Cancelled: SpeedVentures/S2ki to Host Thunderhill Event" which announces that the S2000 Challenge and S2000 International are going to make S2K Track Days happen, however, it will not be called S2K Days and it will not be sponsored by S2KCA. To read more go to the new thread. We thank Greg and the S2KCA Board for enabling this to happen.
Also, I think the sacramento area is loaded with amazing country drives. Traffic free, with beautiful winding roads. Just my two cents on that topic.

Greg and the S2KCA Crew,
I have been too busy last few days to check on S2K Days. What a surprise to read through 88 posts to find that the event was on it's way to sucking the pipe.
I'm a 48 year old guy that talked my wife into driving 1800 miles one way from flyover country to make this event. The announcement for dates were given in Feb. so there was plenty of time to plan a west coast vacation around the weekend. Here in Iowa there's not a whole lot of S2000's so a gathering of 200 or more sounded like a hell of a good time. I used to live in Orange County and I thought that in car loving California an event like this would be a natural and well attended. I remember a bunch of folks last year wishing that S2K Days was closer to the left coast so they could attend, go figure.
The word "nickeldicks" come to mind.
I'll probably still make the trip and head straight for Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Maybe a local club will have a meet I could drop in on.
I know words are cheap and plentiful but I'd like to thank everybody for their time and efforts.
Denny
