Think I should Change It?
So i was just wondering considering the life of oil if you guys think i should change it??? It was changed from OEM oil to Royal Purple the day i bought i back in July of last yr. I had put just under 2000km's on the car before i parked it for the winter, it was at 61,500 and it was good till like 67,000. The car then sat all winter with that oil in it. Now as soon as my car is out of the body shop it will be drivin as my daily driver till snow flys, by the till i store it again i still wont be even close to needing a change due to mileage.
So do you think i should change it now, after coming out of storage, or wait until oct/nov on this yr and change it before storage?

When I switch from dino to synthetic, I put about 1000 miles on the synthetic and then change it out again. Then one more time at another 1000 miles. It's just to flush the system out of the old dino oil. I am not sure if this is necessary or does anything, but it's just to ease my mind, as I am very anal about car care.
BTW, I have not gotten a solid word on this, but I have heard rumors of Royal Purple not being a true Group IV synthetic. Again, not 100% sure.

You should change your oil before you put the car up for storage. You should also change your oil every 12 months. I'd change the oil when I got the car out, change it again before putting it away for next winter, and then change it every fall from then on. Oil life is not just mileage, but time as well.

Another factor is that the oil filter relies on a rubber compression seal, essentially an o-ring. This rubber slowly loses elasticity. So even if you never run your car at all, it's not a good idea to leave a spin-on oil filter on the car forever. Typical recommendation is to change the oil filter every six months. I definitely would not leave the same oil filter on for more than a year, no matter how much use the car got (or didn't get).

Yeah, generally speaking this is true. But it depends on how long the storage is and how old the oil is as to whether it is worth bothering about.

If you have to change it at least once a year any way, you might as well change it before winter storage.

If you have the budget for it, you can change the oil every day! Nothing beats that peace of mind. Too bad it's kind of hard on the environment, though.
everyday after dinner...."honey i'll be in in a minute, just have to finish my daily oil change.."
