Not sure where this is coming from but we have both and this couldn't be more incorrect IMO. A lot Evo X's break because people mod the hell out if them for high HP but a stock or lightly modded one is very reliable. Same goes for the STi, I have 28k miles on my 15 and have had zero issues. Although now I probably just jinxed myself lol.

I would never want to get rid on my S for an STi/WRX, the S is much more fun to drive.

I did a little write-up on the 2015 WRX for MotoIQ if you want some info on the car and some perspective. My take is it makes a better DD than the STI; the STI is only if you plan in going to a road course. I previously owned a 2005 Evo and I have a 2005 S2000 now for the weekend/track car (MotoIQ AP2 project car).

If you need more power, Killer B Motorsport now has their GTX3067R twin scroll turbo kit available for the WRX which makes about 150whp more power than stock with the same spool.

Find a Spoon/Bulletproof fastback-style hardtop and throw on some Conti ExtremeContacts or something. Problems mostly solved!

Lol...that's good to hear.

I feel bad because I enjoy driving the s2000 more than the WRX. But I typically drive the s2000 on nice days and probably won't drive it in the winter. Both cars are great, just different. In my opinion they compliment each other very well.
That's cool. Good to hear. What part of the state are you in? Charleston here. Yes lots of great roads. A couple of weeks ago I drove up to Canaan valley. Awesome roads up that way. RT 33, 32, 219. Also from I 79 flatwoods exit through Rt 15,20 webster springs is amazing. I drove like it was my own private highway for nearly an hour at one point and never got behind another car.

I can't see any stage 1 STI losing to a bolt-on S2k.

My daily is a stage 2 09 STI and I have no complaints about the car other than the gas mileage isn't great. It's fast, practical, and great in the snow. The s2000 is definitely the more raw and connected driving experience.

You can't go wrong with a WRX for a DD and an S2k for nice weather/weekend duty.

I wholeheartedly agree with the conclusion you've come to. The S2000 is great in many aspects, but if the terrain and the sporadic weather prevents you from enjoying it to the fullest, then why bother. I think the WRX is an extremely solid choice and i was actually in the process of doing the same thing. I live in Omaha/Lincoln, NE and the weather here is just too various to use the S2000 as a full season car. We get a ton of huge pot holes and we are very far away from any fun twisty mountain roads (all flat land around here). Dollar for Dollar, the WRX is rated the best value per HP, so def a solid choice.

That's funny. I bought my S2000 in Omaha in May and drove it 1000 miles back to here....lol. Yeah, I'll see how the WRX feels. A test drive is worth 1000 words trying to describe it.

That's what I thought. But these guys are saying it weights more and has to transfer power to all 4 wheels. I don't get it either. I would assume even a tuned Bolton s2k would lose to a stock sti

I have a 2016 WRX CVT Limited and I love it. CVT is smooth and paddle shifters work well on it. I notice no turbo lag at all. The interior has gotten a lot better also. I have the fully loaded version with EyeSight. It was a bit expensive but I love driving it!
