Thinking about a WRX
This thread has given me WRX fever, BTW. I would be using it as a DD to compliment my S2000.
I have to keep reminding myself that I don't want or need a car that requires a payment lol. My daily driven, road tripped, 150K mile TSX is rock solid. And since its a manual trans model with NAV/Tech package, and I've added the perfect suspension/wheel/tire/BBK setup, I have no needs of "usefulness" or fun that it doesn't fulfill.
Plus its an Accord...and you can never kill an Accord.
Dammit.

Idk squat about WRX's...but I've always admired that one old coupe (from the '90s?). Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's sorta rare/expensive, right? Whenever I see one on the road or parking lot, I cannot help but to gawk. Actually kinda want one. What year are they and how much?

DD'd my S2K for 11 years of it's 16 year life. Rain, snow, you name it. It's just a car man, drive it. Get some performance summer tires that handle the rain well (continental DW for example), some performance winter tires when the time comes if you want to drive through the cold season. Hard top if you want, or just leave the soft top up. Why wouldn't you be worried about keeping a BRAND new car clean and pristine like you do the S?

But...some people have the S2000 as a toy. Normally, you keep your leisure-use toys cleaner and in better condition than your daily-used necessities.
A non-car example:
Your work clothes are normally less spiffy than your "going out" clothes. You may have the same "going out" suit for years because you work to keep it clean. But you might buy new work clothes all the time because they get used often.
Same with shoes.
Same with tools and equipment. A new commercial fishing boat is usually going to be ruined faster than an old speedboat.
Obviously, not everyone is the same....but almost anything that you use/buy purely for leisure is kept clean. You see it as a luxury or extra purchase that needs to last and look good for a long time in order to justify its purchase.
I can't be the only one here who puts a coat of wax on the lawn tractor every spring, can I?
Test drove a 13 WRX when I was shopping for a DD, ended up purchasing a Focus ST instead (less $$, better fuel economy).
Really liked the WRX, just wasn't right for me at the time.

My mindset for the S2000 is different and has always been different for the 10 years I've owned it. I treasure not having rusted chassis parts from salt. But smears of melted tire rubber on the hood from track use? 100% acceptable. Would prefer not to have any...but no real rAgrets. Because my mind was made up from day 1 that tracking the car was something I wanted to do with it.
Driving through salt with my S2000 is really my only slightly illogical hangup. I think I share my door ding or other meaningless damage hangup with most people.
And I'm not preserving the car for anyone except me. There's a reason that, after 10 years of ownership, I still stare at it while walking up to it and say things like "damn, gurl".
That car is really just all about me. Lol.
