I bought my first S2000 after having driven modified WRX's and STI's for years.
The S2000 was a massive let-down.
Let's face it, the S2000 is dog slow compared to an STI.
The RWD handling scared me. The engine was buzzy and didn't have the massive torque I was used to.
I suffered from buyer's remorse for months.

Until I took it out on a track with the local Subaru club during an HPDE day.
And then suddenly everything changed.
I was faster than most of them, and I could stay out for longer (no brake fade).
The car was in its element and I suddenly understood what it was about.

Also take it out and drive it.
Keeping it in the garage to save it from rain/sun/salt/etc is like not having intimate relations with your girlfriend because you want to save her for her next boyfriend.
Great info.

Also, may I add Zent Rose's Youtube review of the s2000. He is by no means one of the "Affluent" members of a very well known and/or popular car reviewers i.e. guys from Top Gear. But I truly appreciate what he has to say about the S2000.... if you have time to watch the whole thing, that's even better. But if you don't, you may just want to "Fast-Forward" to 4:26 to 4:39... here's the link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f5vrPKRrkY

May I add, since you can afford a brand spankin' new WRX, please consider a used Lexus IS-F.
I'd choose a Lexus IS-F over a WRX... 1. For durability. 2. As for the torque, it won't be disappointing and can beat any WRX-STIs/EVOs, stock for stock regardless of the year! 3. It's a four-door. 4. It's a sports car dress in a wolves' clothing. 5. A used one is very affordable! 5. For rarity! 7. I owned one and planning of acquiring one again!

Do what you think is right for you. But have an open mind and consider some of our recommendations! Even if you think it's

I have both, a supercharged S2K and a tuned WRX wagon. The WRX is great in the snow, but getting in it after driving the S for a while feels like driving a dump truck.

I just got back from driving with my neighbor in his 2012 sti sedan. We drove basically all day through winding mountain roads and I drove most of the day. I reallty like the Sti a lot! The turbo motor provides good torque and really moves the car effortlessly. The handling is stable and sporty. I pushed it pretty hard in sport sharp mode after getting used to the car. Its nice and stable on the sweepers and moderate turns but the tighter turns is where the S2000 really outshines it.

All in all I would love to own a new WRX or older Sti but I'm not ready to sacrifice the S2000 for one. The S is still a much more precise instrument that connects me to the road and the car better than the sti. The shifter feels quicker and more precise, everything in the S is just more connected to the driver. The WRX Sti does a lot of things VERY well. The S2000 does one thing, sunny weather canyon carving, BETTER! So, untill I can find a way to get both, I think I'll keep the S.

We also tried to drive a new WRX but the salesman said we had to be pre approved on credit to drive one. he said people are particular about their new WRX having miles on it. Since i'm not really a serious buyer at this point I didn't bother with all of that, but I really believe a test drive may have swayed me one way or the other. Have any of you Guys encounter this? Both my friend and I are 40 years old and we pulled up in an Sti. What gives?

Idk squat about WRX's...but I've always admired that one old coupe (from the '90s?). Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's sorta rare/expensive, right? Whenever I see one on the road or parking lot, I cannot help but to gawk. Actually kinda want one. What year are they and how much?
Lol...the SVX? With all the windows?
Haha. I meant this one. Dunno why, but it attracts me. I think it's the only Subie that really does.

WRX's got uglier and uglier after the GC8. Bugeye GDB is okay, and blobeye GDB is okay. I cant stand hawkeye GDB or newer.

Anyway, bought an Evo after having my S2K for about 4 months. Very stupid. Prefer my S over it.

But also may be getting rid of my S for reasons, namely I don't want to continue to own/insure 3 cars. The Evo regardless if I like my S better, is here to stay for the long. My 3rd car is a 96 Civic, with a swap and 119K miles. Selling Civic, and swap S2K for a reasonably newer daily. I wont daily an Evo and I wont daily an S.

That is a 22B impreza. It was not offered in the US.

That body style was in the US as a standard impreza or a 2.5RS model. 2.5L non turbo. 150hp or something. Didn't have the fender flares, etc.

WRX salesmen are anal about test driving. When I bought my car, I was able to drive around the block. It took literally 3 minutes!

You have the exact stable I want. So how's the WRX? Still enjoy the S too?

So I found a 2016 WRX used with 5k miles at a local dealer and test drove it today. I really liked it but not as much as the 2012 Sti. I felt the torque hit at a lower RPM but then it was kind of flat above 4k rpm or so. The Sti had a lot more midrange punch and continued to build. The steering wheel in the new WRX is nicer as is the rest of the interior, but thats not a big deal to me. The handling was very good and honestly it was a great daily driver but its no S2000. I would have to own both the WRX and S2000.

Which evo did u buy? Someone is coming to look at my s2k tomorrow and I'm hopefully jumping into a 2012 evo. Almost everyone tells me it's a stupid move and to keep my s2k. But I miss having a turbo car
