For those with beater daily drivers...
Salt on the roads here (Chicago area) too. From Dec to March, I drive my dog's car - 1996 Windstar. Insurance is cheap in winter though - comprehensive only. Looking forward to clean roads in spring.
My daily beater is a '92 Acura Legend LS. It has heated seats, heated mirriors, auto climate control, its an auto.. blah blah blah - but when I first bought my S2000 I just hated driving ole beater. Now the novelty has worn off, the S2000 is a "toy" and Im trying to keep the miles off since it seem everyone else's has WAY lower miles than mine.
Is it hard to resist driving the S? Yes.

I drive about 50,000 miles a year(sales) so I know it's not practical to drive it every day. But to answer your questions yes it is hard to walk by on the way out. And yes I have said screw it and taken it. It sure does make the miles in the S that much more special.
See S2KI is like AA. You are not alone. We all have a serious S "jones".

I live WAY out in the sticks and winters can be pretty tough, mostly it's all the gravel on the road from the snow and ice, but also the de-icer is like butter and once it gets on the car EVERYTHING on the road sticks to it, it's ugly and makes a big mess. Plus my commute is 110 miles a day. My wife even mentioned that I 'almost' need 2 S's, one DD and one toy. It's an attractive temptation but even if I had a beater S I wouldn't be able to drive it everyday due to the weather, hence the CRV and a Toy 4x (as DD rigs for myself and my wife).
So to answer the question, it doesn't bother me at all to leave the S home alot of the time, to me it's like $$ in the bank, it'll be there anytime I want to drive it but I don't HAVE to drive it all the time. And as long as it's at home it's not getting messed up. I've driven it enough that I don't get too anxious not driving it for a couple months and it just sweetens the time I do get to spend w/it.
i drive my 91 4ws lude most of the time and when its snowing and what not i drive my 4+4. i work at a lexus dealer so when i do drive the s i park it where i can see it all day.the lude is almost as fun to drive as the s, so its no big deal plus i dont care about miles on the lude.
