For those with beater daily drivers...

I could NOT live anyplace where I couldn't drive the S 12 months out of the year.
PLUS-when the S goes away for the winter...the DD 94civic turns into a snow rally beast! Ripping down the street and drifting around corners pulling the e-brake, then slamming into snow banks...is...SOMETIMES...SOMETIMES more fun then the S
I know...i said it.
im sorry
Another plus to having the S put away is come spring the S comes out and the feeling I had when I first sat in it then bought it...comes rushing back to me.
BTW-it keeps the miles down

When I was still making payments on the S, I felt guilty for not driving it more. Now that it's paid for, I don't really think about it. I'd much rather leave it safe in the garage than to take it somewhere that I'd constantly be worried about slashed tops, door dings, theft, shopping cart dents, etc. That's the whole point of having a beater.
I was driving a '95 explorer as a DD until last month when it started having tranny problems. I still have it as the motor is perfect and the car is paid off, but I got a new daily that would be better on gas and reliability... an '02 RSX Type-S. I was always having problems passing the S and getting into the explorer and thinking... "Maybe I can make an exception with the weather one day and take the S out..." But I never did/do make an exception for bad weather... I like my S clean
. I found the secret is to have a fun DD (if possible), ever since I got the RSX-S, it's been easier not driving the S... however, the S is still my preferred mode of transportation, hands down. With all the snow, ice, and salt that we've had lately though, I've been perfectly fine keeping the S stored away safely... can't wait for spring, this weather is killing me and keeping me from driving my baby!!

The way I feel about it is that my S should be used for fun driving, and not mundane daily commuting where I might be stuck in traffic etc. So, to answer your question, no.
anyone remember the october storm in buffalo ny?
that morning it was beautiful out. I drove to work in south buffalo about 30min from home.
the storm came from no where. It took 3-4hrs to get home in the S.
TERRIBLE, ill never roll the die again!

I drive mine 50/50. It just depends on what I feel like driving. Luckily, my beater is fun to drive as well, albeit in a different way. Though it doesn't have a radio, which blows.
Anyway, to answer the original question, I sometimes settle into a bit of a depression when I have to drive the Sierra to work every day. I had been trying to save the S2000 only for days I can drive topless

I've since decided to dump the truck for a better DD and have been driving the S2000 every day the last 3 weeks while I park the truck and find out how to get rid of it. It's been great.
I almost bought a 99 Accord today, waiting on the credit union to give me a rate, but maybe I'll be back to a boring DD again Monday
