I've only had my car for 2 days. This is my first VTEC car (actually, first Japanese car, period).

Quite honestly, I'm not very impressed with vtec in my S. I thought it was some magical zone where I'd be propelled down the highway like the turbo button in Knight Rider (or super pursuit mode), but it's nothing to be jumping about.

I came from an 01 GTI 1.8T with nothing but a GIAC chip, and b/c of the torque, it definitely _feels_ faster.

Hence, I don't VTEC all that often (again, only had it for 2 days). I guess I shift like a granny.

I still love my 06 S though.

Why? These cars were built with F1 in mind. These cars were made to hit VTEC every freaking day multiple times per day. Haven't you taken a look at Honda's reliability in their craftsmanship?

I am shocked at how you DON'T drive this car. What a waste.
Hahaha this guy agrees with you, you should read his post again. Thats funny how quick people are looking for a confrontational outlet. I replied to this same post. Did you read it? "Vtec's often" Normal shifting at 5 to 6k! Hahah...

Uh ?

I said that my car sees Vtec daily, it sees the redline daily, just not every shift, there is no need for the redline in traffic. I never shift until at least 5k and keep it at the 4k range.

If the road is clear, yeah, it sees the redline...I absolutely do NOT waste my car
Haha thats pretty funny, I couldn't resist calling him out on that as well

When you get better skilled at driving it, its a high 13 sec car in the quarter. Nothing to really brag about these days, but considering the average 60's muscles cars with over 300hp were doing same times its no slouch either, especially considering this isn't even where the car was meant to shine. Its faster then your Volkswagon. Your GTI weighs more and makes more low end torque, there for it simulates and sets you back in your seat harder, but buy no means does this mean it propels you down the street faster then a car like the S where it is all mid & top end. Get gears if you want to simulate more set You back in your seat torq. Your lucky you got an Ap2, you'd be really disapointed with the Ap1. The tq curve on these is spread out even further.

never not once. but I only have 330 miles. I guess thats not bad since I have had it about 60 hours and got it with 28. I had to tell the sales guy on the test drive to chill out and not go over 5. somehow I have the feeling that some dude has redlined my engine somewhere in that 28 miles. oh well, there is always denial.

I'm sure if it has a few times, it will be totally fine. Don't worry about it. I had a fresh engine put in my old Ap1 and I couldn't keep off the Vtec for the first recommended 500 miles. I have 30,000 on it now and its perfect running. Just don't red line it. Run it up to 7000 max once in a wile during your break in period and I think your car will treat you well. Or don't, but don't stress over it.

Oh totally I know the S is faster than my little GTI. I'm not saying my GTI is fast.... I'm just saying that I don't believe VTEC is the be all, end all that some pretend it is.

I love my S. I think it's quick enough for me, and I don't need another vehicle that gets me in trouble speeding wise (I also have a CBR929 in the summer that I ride a lot).

Anyway, we all know the bends are where our cars shine. I'm definitely going to try it in the bendies sometime next year.
