Thought process when choosing colors
I like all S2000 colors except silvers and suzuka.
For me:
Tier 1 - good
yellow
white
orange
black
red
Tier 2 - meh
blue
Tier 3 - bleh
silver
suzuka
Black: I love black, esp paired with red but it's too hard to keep clean and free of swirls plus body kits don't show well. I thought I would always buy black cars, because they look so damn good.
White: I love white too because it just looks so clean! body kits show show up well.
Yellow: good: Loud as hell and I thought it was time for a change so why not (from black)? I'm getting a convertible, so it's already loud, lets make it even more loud. bad: Body kits look.. okay... on them. Can't match yellow with any other color other than black. (seats, interior)
Red: I like red, but I think red would be more attractive to me if it was a Ferrari red. Red looks awesome with a CF hood and gunmetal wheels
Blue(Laguna): meh, it's okay, I've never been big on blue cars.
Silver: ugh, WAAAY too many silver cars out there. Silver is too boring a color for me. Moonrock is hot tho.
orange: I might buy an orange one if it was Lamborghini orange, not the ugly deep 350z orange

it's a myth that red cars get ticketed more often for speeding, but there are no real studies that say red cars get ticketed more than....black cars. i heard maybe on the junkies or another radio show that red cars represent like less than 4% of speeding tickets given out. granted, there might be fewer red cars out there (as opposed to...SILVER) but it's more just how fast you're going. there's probably a positive correlation between drivers of red cars and drivers who speed.
also, having a red car doesn't make your insurance go up, unless you're with some bush league insurance company. i know that all state, geico, and progressive don't give a crap if your car is puke orange.
that said, i like black but only in the showroom. it shows every little spot of dirt and looks like ass if you drive your car more than twice a week, unless you live where there are dust-free streets and it doesn't rain.
yellow is a bit too aggressive for my taste.
white is blah, although the look is sharpened with the red/black interior. also, i have noticed that white cars seem to get bird crap on them moreso than other colors.
silver is the safe bet, in terms of it looking pretty good and hiding dirt and grime well.
i like darker blues (there's a BMW shade of blue that i really like) but i don't like lighter blues and definitely not the suzuka blue.
mine's red, and i like it a lot. my two previous Acuras were both silver, so i thought i would mix things up.

My speculation: if you're speeding or doing something illegal and an officer is there, you're going to get a ticket no matter what. If you're driving a red sports car in a group of speeding cars, you're probably going to get targeted more so than lets say a nondescript minivan because the red sports car gives the illusion of speed. One simply associates speeding with red sports cars (or sports cars in general).
Red cars go faster......sports cars should be red.
I always wanted a red S2. My Berlina Black was good, but NFR seems to suit the S2 down to the ground.
First red car I've ever owned, and I love watching people just "stare"

Performance cars in white, black, or red, look good forever. The other colors are fads that come and go.
Red = always thougth red was an average color. Looks good on a ford tempo
Black = a black car with a black interior is fantastic to get into after a hard day at work on a sunny 95+ degree day. Fortunately, it always looks dirty at the end of workday anyway. I still have a black on black 92 prelude as my beater.
White = always looks clean so you spend less time washing the paint off. My two trucks were bought new and are white.
Blue = same tone as the red. Looks good on a ford tempo. I really hate blue interiors.
Silvers = grey with metal flake added. Reminds me of the Russian based ads with Helga modeling grey bathing suits, evening wear, casual wear and them all being the same grey outfit with different accessories.
Yellow = The volkswagon dealer had one yellow S2000 with 9K miles on it. When you buy used, the car tells you what color you will like. So that is the color I wound up with. I like it now but figure it will look dated quickly. I worried about the car looking like a bumblebee. Keeping bright rims on it to advoid the yellow and black look.

Great post idea. I will put my thoughts in before reading everyone else's. I hope I don't offend, these are just random thoughts/ramblings.
Red: Looks great, but my previous Integra was Milano red. Also, for some reason, I think the car is too small to be red, and it makes it look kinda cheap. If it was a larger car like a Ferrari or a Corvette, then red would be very nice.
White: This is the color of my current car. I've always wanted a white car because it's easy to keep clean, plus when you wash it, it looks really nice. I could do a quick half-assed wash in 30 minutes and it will look great. I picked out my parent's BMW 3 series in white, and it looked great. When I saw a few pictures of older model S2000's with the red/black combo in a white car, I knew it was the one I wanted. Also, it looks a bit more refined than other colors.
Blue: With Suzuka blue, my gf once made a comment that it looked like a girly car. That somehow stuck with me and I didn't want it. Also for some reason, the blue is light enough to be similar to how a grey looks (i.e.: never perfectly clean, looks the same dirty or clean). With the new Laguna blues, I actually like it a lot, but I think "boy racer" when I see it. It is somewhat close to the popular Civic Si color and the WRX color. It looks nice, but was also a little too dark for me (i.e.: hard to keep clean). I never saw a Laguna up close, so that's all I can say for that color.
Yellow: Too loud for me. Also gives me the "boy racer" impression. Before I bought my first 2001 Silverstone, I test drove one, but I felt like people looked at me too much. I could see the yellow reflect off of the concrete barriers, other cars, etc. It was a little too much for me. That was several years ago, but the thought/experience stuck with me and I didn't want a yellow one now.
Silverstone/Sebing: Simple answer, my 2001 was Silverstone and I didn't want another. I wanted something different. I did like it a lot, and it wasn't like normal light greys. When you washed it, the paint sparkled and it looked really new. I couldn't say the same for Sebring.
Black: I never really wanted a black car because in my eyes, it only looked good in the showroom. It was too hard to keep clean. You could wash it, and you'd still get swirl/water marks everywhere. My mom told me when I was younger to never get a black car, and that just stuck with me. My friends with black cars could never keep them as clean as I would have liked. Although I do admit, they look good when they are washed well. Too bad, they look dirty again after 10 minutes of driving. Hehe.
I just picked the general S2000 colors, I'm too lazy to comment about other colors like green, beige, etc.

What the heck is up with a few ppl going "S2k is too small to have bright colors like red/yellow." So weak. These ppl on the street staring at bright colored s2k aren't going "damn that's so cheap" but instead drooling.
btw i never ever thought vette would look nice on red. Vette definitely looks real badass and offensive in dark color.
